Pool Sessions

Thursday, October 25, 2007

Pool season is back in Windhoek. On Sunday we joined our friend Mary Beth and 350 of her friends from Katatura for an afternoon of fun and sun by the pool.

Swakopmund Getaway

Monday, October 15, 2007

Some pictures from our weekend getaway to Swakopmund. I will try and fill in the gaps in the next few days.

Kim and I took the minibus to Swakopmund Saturday morning. The minibus is not the most comfortable way to travel but it does get you to the coast quite quick without the high cost of renting a car. We arrived just past noon, settled into the bungalows, and hit the beach for some fun.

At the bungalows we were surrounded by a gang of cats. I would guess there was about 15 of them living in this one small bush near our cabin.

Apparently fishing season is still on! I am hoping to do a weekend dedicated to fishing in Swakopmund early next year.

Some interesting local landscaping.

Here I am doing my best beached seal impression.

After a nice relaxing day walking the beach we went down to the Beach Bar for a drink. I had made reservations for dinner at the famous Tug restaurant but couldn't get a booking till after 9pm! No problem, I really love sitting at the Beach Bar listening to the waves roll in.

After a great dinner we met up with our friend Lonin who lives in Swakopmund for a game of pool at the legendary Swakop Lodge. The place was very lively as usual!

We had relatively good weather both days. The water however was as cold as ever.

Won't you take me to...Funky Town

Wednesday, October 03, 2007

I find it very interesting that there is a place called "Funky Town" in Windhoek. I also find it almost unbelievable that I don't live there. (Because I am so funky) I finally made it out to get a photo with the town sign.

Also in Funky Town is a mega-shopping store which could rival Costco in North America. Inside we find this well placed pick car above the snack shop....funky.
