Last weekend’s road trip took us south of Cape Town near by the famous Table Mountain National Park and Cape of Good Hope. Rather than exploring the park we explored the areas around the park, including a number of gorgeous little fishing villages/beach towns.
- Looking out over the Atlantic on the cliffs near Kommetjie
- This area borders the national park
- My new favorite beach in Scarborough
- Great beach, nice surf, and fairly quiet
- We did see some surfers on the beach. The waves break about 50 metres out.
- Josh, Kim, and Greg on the beach
- View over Simonstown harbour
- Street level in Kalk Bay
- The Dalai Lama was recently denied a visa to attend a peace conference here in South Africa. It is a politically charged issue, so I will let you do your own research.
- Little restaurant on the ocean where we stopped for a drink.
- Kalk Bay harbour
- Kalky’s Restaurant – excellent authentic fish and chips. Place your order, take a number, and a real and true fisherman’s wife with massive muscular calves will deliver your plate!!
- Harbour life
- Outside Kalky’s restaurant – as you can see it’s just a shack, yet it serves up superb fish and chips.
- Did I mention fresh??
- 50R for a beautiful fresh Silverfish filet
